It's rare these days that you have an idea then produce that idea as you see fit, then replicate that process several times and nobody once doubts it's legitimacy or caliber of artfulness. It's the type of pure creative problem solving you only see once or twice a year when the stars align.
Enter The Athletic.
On top of my hectic design schedule I find time to participate in an ongoing collaboration project between Jeremy + Julie who run The Athletic and I. They are actually athletic BTW.
Together they have a great idea, a simple blog format dedicated to all things sport, sport culture, art & design. Sports + Design? I'm sold.
So together we come up with different products and select objects to feature alongside the editorial content. Jeremy takes good photos and writes better than I do about their daily and often hourly adventures in and around cycling and sport in Portland. It's been so cool to see it absolutely explode onto the scene.
They take great care in fulfilling hundreds of orders for PDX socks and LAX socks and field questions from the Port of Portland with wide grins.
Look for more from Julie Krasniak. A bourgeoning design powerhouse who will be designing the Julie K. collection to compliment the honed offerings of The Athletic.
